The META  Coaching Model

Jim developed this model as a way of communicating his vision for the coaching process. This model incorporates key ideas that are central to living a life of fulfillment. Coaching sessions will focus on each of these core areas.

M  ovement

  • Taking action on a vision that is in alignment with our values is the secret to success. The client must come with a desire and the will to take action.
  • We are too often frozen in inaction due to our limiting beliefs about ourselves. This can become a self-perpetuating cycle which once broken will find the client accelerating towards their goal.
  • The coach helps the client learn to move into action more freely, to see action as more of a fun challenge rather than an ominous process. The coach will help the client learn how to work around limitations, will be a thinking partner to develop alternatives action plans, help develop structures in the client’s life that support their goals, and will celebrate the client’s successes.

E  mpowerment

  • We should proceed under the assumption that we are each responsible for our own lives.
  • In the coaching space the client is perceived as fully empowered to create their own vision and to direct the agenda. The coach is there to support the client as they move their own agenda forward.
  • The coach’s mission is to leave the client feeling an effective, positive and energized sense of empowerment and control over their own life.

T  ruth

  • There is an agreement that we are here to discover and speak truth.
  • This is a time to rediscover your true self. To identify your core values and to determine that you will begin moving into alignment with them.
  • The coach will work as a thinking partner with the client to discover personal truths.
  • The coach will be a witness to the client’s values and discovery process and will ask that the client be accountable to this process and ultimately to themselves.

  A  bundance

  • One of my core beliefs is that we are all intended to live lives of abundance; that there is enough for all of us, and that we are entitled to abundance as part of the natural process of our existence.
  • When we do not have abundance in our lives it is because we ourselves are blocking it or have a distorted vision of abundance.
  • The coach will assist the client in discovering and transforming their negative assumptions about abundance.
